In his third full season as understudy to the consistent Roger Freestone, Jason once again saw little first-team action at Swansea. For much of the campaign he was confined to outings in the FA Wales Premier Cup matches and when he got his chance at Bury when Freestone was suspended he promptly received a red card himself. He later made two further Second Division appearances and received a reward for his efforts in the 2001 close season when he made his debut for Wales at U21 level against Poland.
