Having had a trial at Bury towards the end of the 1999-2000 campaign, Jason was taken on by his home-town club on a short-term contract in the close season and made such great progress that boss Andy Preece eventually rewarded him with an 18-month contract in March.
He featured in the first team on a number of occasions in the opening half of the campaign but struggled to win a place after Christmas.
Jason is an attacking midfield player who excels at linking defence and attack.
He was made available for transfer by Preston North End in May 2007.
Jason joined Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2009 with a contract to the end of the season.
He joined Port Vale in September 2009 with a three-month contract.
Jason joined Oldham Athletic in July 2010 with a six-month contract.
