Having joined Stockport County from Norway's Moss FK shortly before the start of last season Jarkko's career at Edgeley Park got off to the worst possible start when he suffered badly damaged ankle ligaments on his debut in a Worthington Cup tie against Blackpool. However once fully fit again he showed just why County boss Andy Kilner had been prepared to shell out a substantial fee for him. Tenacious in the tackle, with a phenomenal work rate and an eye for goal he soon became a firm favourite of the Edgeley Park faithful. Unfortunately a knee injury, the legacy of playing 18 months continuous football, brought his campaign to a premature close. A regular member of the Finland squad when fit he won a further four caps during the season, featuring in both World Cup qualifiers against England. Jarkko previously played for TPV Tampere, FF Jaro, HJK Helsinki, Molde and Lillestrom.
