This enthusiastic midfield dynamo was a fixture in the Northampton Town line-up in 2000-01 until suffering medial knee ligament damage at Rotherham United on Easter Monday which put him out of action for the final few games.
Operating as a box-to-box player he appeared to cover every blade of grass in matches and still had time to contribute the occasional goal for the Cobblers.
After a loan spell, James joined Grimsby Town in July 2007 with a two-year contract.
