Jacques Songo'o

A veteran of the last three World Cup finals, Jacques was recalled to the Cameroon squad at the age of 35 after a two-year absence for the 2002 qualifying campaign. Although time may be having its effect, he makes best use of his vast experience to remain a very competent keeper. Having started his career with Canone Yaounde in Cameroon and making his international debut as a 19 year-old, Jacques headed to France in 1989 to join Toulon. He later spent a year at Le Mans before signing for Metz at the start of the 1993/94 season. Having enhanced his reputation, he moved to Spain three years later to enjoy tremendous success with Deportivo La Coruna. In conceding less than a goal a game in his first season at Riazor, Jacques was named the best keeper in the Primera Liga as they finished third. Jacques continued to be a key figure as Deportivo progressed to their first championship success in 2000. He gradually fell behind Jose Molina, and decided to return to Metz in July 2001.
