England International

With Newcastle United, FA Cup winner 1951, 1952, 1955.239 goals in 494 appearances is just one explanation as to why 'Wor Jackie' became the ultimate Geordie idol. A working-class hero and perfect gentleman, he began his 14 year stint at St James' Park as a right-winger but it was in the famous No. 9 shirt that he became the stuff of legend. Widely remembered for United's three FA Cup Final wins in the fifties, a Freeman of the City, Newcastle came to standstill when generations of his adoring fans paid their heart-felt respects at his funeral in 1988.
