Cape was a speedy winger who scored the crucial goal for Manchester United at Millwall on 5 May 1934 to avoid relegation to Division Three, later winning a Div II Championship medal (1935-36)

Cape scored the only goal in the game that attracted St James' Park record attendance of 68,386 against Chelsea in September 1930.
