Taylor has a great engine and has often been defending one minute and popping up to score a goal in the next. Bought from Sheffield Wednesday, Taylor had previously impressed at Port Vale.
Every schoolboys dream is to play for his favourite club and Taylor has fulfilled that dream by playing for Villa.
He scored one of the goals that gave victory to Villa against Leeds United in the 1996 Worthington Cup Final.
Taylor extended his contract at Derby County to June 2005 in June 2004.
Taylor signed a new one-year deal with Northampton Town in June 2006.
