Richards appeared in the starting line-up for Halifax at Carlisle on the opening day of last season but then struggled with niggling injuries and never really established himself in the side. When called upon he never let the side down although he failed to add to his goal tally for the Shaymen. He is a young midfield player with good distribution who is an effective ball winner.
