Having fallen out of favour at Bramall Lane, Ian Hamilton moved on to Notts County at the start of 2000-01 where he saw regular first-team action up until the closing stages of the season. A hard-working player with shrewd distribution he was generally deployed in a central midfield role by the Magpies.
