Having started 2000-01 on the subs' bench for Halifax, Ian netted his first goal of the season at Mansfield Town and followed this up with a stunning goal in the 2-1 win at Torquay. Shortly afterwards he picked up a calf injury but although he returned to fitness he struggled to win his place back and was mainly restricted to outings in the reserves. He is essentially a striker but can also play wide on the left or just behind the front two.
