Place of birthRotherham
NationalityEnglish
Weight80 kg
Height1.83 m
PositionDefender/Centre back

Breckin signed a new three-year contract for Chesterfield at the start of 2000-01 and celebrated with a goal in the opening day win over York City when he ran through from his own half, exchanged passes with David Reeves and shot home.

He was the perfect foil for the more physical Steve Blatherwick in the middle of defence, always looking composed, in the right place and ready with a perfectly-timed tackle should the need arise.

Breckin made his 300th League appear-ance at Hull City in April 2001 and, in recognition of his growing maturity, he skippered the side for much of the campaign.

Breckin joined Nottingham Forest in July 2005 with a three-year contract but was made available for transfer in December 2008.

He returned to Chesterfield in July 2009 with a two-year contract.
