Liverpudlian Bishop began his career at Everton back in 1983 and moved on to Carlisle and Bournemouth before signing for Manchester City in 1989. An instant hit with the Maine Road faithful, he was surprisingly transferred to West Ham after just 24 appearances in a deal which brought Mark Ward in the opposite direction.
