Foxe joined Ajax as an amateur in order to learn his craft under the watchful eyes of the Dutch masters and became a regular in their reserve side.
He then had spells in Germany and Japan before arriving at West Ham United after a protracted transfer saga.
Although Foxe has played for Australia at all levels, he was deemed not to have played sufficient full internationals to warrant a British work permit.
As a result his arrival from Japan, which should have taken place in the summer of 2000 was delayed until March 2001 and he joined Mechelen on a short-term deal in order to maintain his match fitness.
In the end Foxe brought forward his plans to wed his French fiancee so that he became eligible for a European passport.
Foxe jouned Leeds United in August 2006 with a five-month contract that was extended to the end of the season in January 2007.
