After a loan spell, Hatem joined Newcastle United in January 2011 with a contract to June 2015 that was cancelled in January 2015.
The France internaional attacking midfielder made an immediate favourable impression on Newcastle's return to the Premier League in 2010 but suffered an horrendous broken tibia and fibula injury to his left leg against Manchester City in only his fourth game.
