NationalityEnglish
Weight90 kg
Height1.91 m
PositionDefender/Centre back

Butters had the satisfaction of scoring Gillingham's first-ever goal in Division One when he netted from the edge of the box on the opening day of the 2000-01 season against Stockport County in just 64 seconds!

He appeared regularly until being sidelined by hamstring trouble following the pulsating 4-4 draw at Wimbledon in October, and it was not until the New Year that he returned to first team action.

Unfortunately, he then suffered a bad knee injury in the FA Cup Third Round tie at Bournemouth and failed to make a full recovery before the summer.

An effective central defender, he is useful in the air and possesses a deadly left-foot shot from long range.

Butters's contract at Brighton & Hove Albion was extended to June 2006 in January 2005 then to June 2007 in May 2006, and to June 2008 in May 2007.
