Made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur while on trial.
'The Iceman' continued to defy his advancing years at Bolton and was a rock at the heart of the defence. Although at times he held the right-back position, he mostly stood tall as a central defender, marshalling the defence superbly. He really came into his own when Colin Hendry arrived, and while this pairing may have been the oldest in the First Division by some distance, they were surely also one of the best. Gudni also had a marvellous goal-scoring record, notching eight goals in the regular season and another two in the play-offs. His importance to the team was recognised when he was deservedly voted as the Wanderers' 'Player of the Year'.
