Mitchell captained Halifax Town in the early part of the 2000-01 campaign but struggled to find consistent form in the opening games. However, following a spell on the sidelines he put together a string of fine performances and played an important role in helping the Shaymen avoid relegation to the Conference. An experienced central defender who is very comfortable on the ball, his only goal last season came from a header in the 4-3 home defeat by Mansfield Town in February.
