A young member of the squad Goran began his career at domestic club Publikum Celje in the 1998-1999 season. He spent two and a half seasons there before being signed by Slavia Prague in Czechoslovakia towards the end of the 2000-2001 season. He made his international debut when coming on as substitute in the play off against Romania in November 2001.
