Padula joined Bristol Rovers from Xerez in Spain after spells with River Plate and Huracan.

Padula was Wigan Athletic manager Bruce Rioch's first signing following his appointment in the 2000 close season but he struggled to win a place in the Latics' line-up in 2000-01, finding his way blocked by the in-form Kevin Sharp.

He is a pacy left back who is confident when bringing the ball out of defence and can deliver a quality cross.

He scored his only goal of the campaign in the LDV Vans Trophy tie against his former club Walsall.

Padula was one of several players released by Wigan in the summer as the club sought to trim its squad.

Padula signed a new two-year contract with Queens Park Rangers in July 2003.
