Santos, who has also had spells with Valenciennes, Olympique Marseille and AS Beauvais, originally joined Ipswich Town in July 2003 on a three-month contract but this was soon extended to a two-year deal.
He subsequently joined Queens Park Rangers in July 2004 with a two-year contract.
Santos joined Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2006 with a one-year contract.
He joined Chesterfield in August 2007 on non-contract terms.
