Made his Ipswich debut aged 17, when he marked the legendary George Best.
Went on to make over 500 appearances before being transferred to Sunderland.
He later returned as manager, leading the club into the Premier League via a play-off final against Barnsley.
In his first season as a Premier League manager, he led Ipswich to 5th place and a place in Europe.
Sacked following Town's relegation the following season.
