After beginning the 2000-01 season on the subs' bench for Colchester United, Gavin won a recall to the side and went on to play a key role in the campaign to secure another year of Second Division football for the Us.
He scored just one goal during the season, netting a real cracker with a 30-yard free kick to secure a 1-0 win over Reading in November.
He mostly featured in a left-wing-back role although he can also operate in central midfield if required.
Gavin signed a new one-year contract with Colchester United in May 2004 before joining Boston United in July 2005 in a one-year deal.
