Owers was very much an unsung hero once again for Notts County in 2000-01. The anchor-man of the Magpies midfield he performed consistently well and his experience proved invaluable to the youngsters in the team around him. Rarely absent he netted four valuable goals to continue his record of having scored in every season of his professional career. Owers went on County's transfer list in November 2001 before being released at the end of the season.
