Jones found it hard to establish himself in the Halifax Town line-up at the start of 2000-01 but after being relegated to the subs' bench in September he scored his first goal of the campaign at Cardiff. He found the net fairly regularly after that but missed several matches after suffering a knee injury at Shrewsbury and only returned to action in the final week of the season. He is a hard-working striker who formed an excellent partnership with Steve Kerrigan up front for the Shaymen.
