The fee of £160,000 paid by Hull City was the second highest in their history.
It equalled the amount paid for David Mail in August 1990.
Gary returned to his London roots in January 2003 when he joined Leyton Orient on a two-and-a-half year contract for an undisclosed fee.
His Os contract was extended to June 2007 in March 2004.
Gary joined Brentford in August 2010 with a two-year contract.
He joined Burton Albion in January 2014 with a contract to June 2014.
