Roberts had another solid and steady campaign for Tranmere Rovers in 2000-01 and was rarely absent in a campaign that ended with the disappointment of relegation.
A tenacious defender who is equally at home at either left back or left wing back, he tackles hard and is always fully committed to the cause.
Something of an unsung hero at Prenton Park, he was a regular in the Welsh international squad in the first half of that season winning a further cap against Belarus.
Roberts signed a new two-year contract with Tranmere Rovers in May 2004.
His contract at Doncaster Rovers was extended to June 2010 in June 2008.
Roberts's contract at Derby County was extended to June 2013 in April 2012.
He joined Bury in July 2013 with a one-year contract that was cancelled in January 2014.
Roberts then joined Notts County with a contract to June 2014.
