After featuring from the subs' bench in a couple of early-season games for Swansea Gareth enjoyed a successful loan spell with Merthyr before breaking through to earn an extended run in the team in the final third of the campaign. A tireless worker in the midfield engine-room he made his debut for Wales at U21 level when he came on as a second half substitute against Ukraine at the Vetch Field.
