A veteran of well over 300 appearances, Gareth Owen enjoyed a very successful testimonial when Manchester United visited Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.
He appeared regularly in the Robins' line-up until injury struck at the turn of 2001.
A pulled muscle was quickly followed by a groin problem and the result was a lengthy spell out of action.
He was mostly employed in a deep lying central-midfield role where his passing skills and powerful long-range shot were put to good use.
Gareth had now spent more than a decade at Wrexham although he had yet to reach his 30th birthday.
He moved to Doncaster Rovers following his release in June 2001.
