Breitenfelder previously played for Rapid Vienna and Casion Bregenz. Breitenfelder signed for Luton Town in August 2000 after impressing during pre-season trials but struggled to win a regular place in the first team squad after being hampered by a series of injuries. A tall rangy right-sided midfield player he showed good positional sense, some accurate passing and was comfortable on the ball. He was one of five players released by the Hatters at the end of April.
