Franky Vandendriessche joined Excelsior from Waregem in 1998, and has since gone on to prove himself as one of Belgium's top goalkeepers. He has returned to full form and fitness in the 2001/02 season after being sidelined for much of the previous term. He tore ligaments following a clash with Red Devils colleague Sven Vermant during a game at Brugge. One of only two members of coach Robert Waseige's 23 for Japan and South Korea who still await their full international debut,.
