England international Frank Becton joined Liverpool from Preston North End and helped Liverpool win the 2nd Division Championship in 1896. A regular scorer he became the first Liverpool player to be capped. He died at a young age of tuberculosis.

He also played for Preston Juniors, Fishwick Ramblers, Nelson, Ashton Town, New Brighton Tower (all amateur).
