Born in Montevideo he began his career at Penerol where his performances earned him an international debut against Israel in September 1995. He secured a move to Italy and Atalanta for the 1996-1997 season but could not hold down a firs team place and he moved to Spain to play foe Real Mallorca. He did not manage to get a regular starting position and after a brief loan spell at Racing Santander he returned home to play for Defensor Sporting in 2000. He returned to Racing Santander before signing for Venezia in 2001. Despite being only 25 he has never been really settled and this has restricted his international appearances. He is tall, has a great left foot and has formed a good partnership with Dario Silva and will start at centre forward.
