Cooksey, who was associated with Colchester United and Brentford as a youngster, has also previously played for Heybridge Swifts, Bishops Stortford and Bromley.
He joined Oldham Athletic in August 2003 in a one-year deal and signed a further one-year contract in May 2004.
Cooksey joined Rochdale in September 2004 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2007 in July 2006.
He joined Boston United in January 2007 with a contract to the end of the season.
