Very much the find of the 1999-2000 season for Leeds United, Eirik began 2000-01 in the starting line-up only to be stretchered off against Everton with an injury that kept him out for six games.
He returned to put in a superb performance in the 1-0 Champions' League victory over AC Milan.
Two games later, he scored his first of the season and hit a post in the 6-0 hammering of Besiktas, but surprisingly had to wait until January to score his first Premiership goal, netting in the 4-0 victory at Manchester City.
Eirik then remained in the first-team picture for the rest of the campaign.
A strong and powerful midfielder, he possesses a great deal of skill and looks to have a fine future both at Elland Road and at international level with Norway.
Eirik was made available for transfer in May 2005.
