Sodje began at domestic club the Sharks before moving to England to play non-league football at Stevenage Borough in 1994.
It took a while before he broke into League football with Macclesfield Town making his debut in 1997.
He left for Luton Town in 1999 but could not hold down a first team place.
This did not stop him making his international debut in April 2000 against Eritrea but he has not managed to stay in the team but has been a member of most squads.
At club level, he had a loan spell at Colchester United before moving to Crewe Alexandria in July 2000 but could not stop them being relegated at the end of the 2001-02 season.
Sodje joined Huddersfield Town in July 2003 on a two-year contract.
He moved on to Yeovil Town in March 2005 with a contract to June 2007.
Sodje joined Southend United in January 2006 with a contract to June 2007.
He joined Gillingham in July 2007 with a two-year contract but was made available for transfer in June 2008.
After a loan spell, Sodje joined Bury in July 2008 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2011 in July 2010 and to June 2013 in May 2012.
