Ekoku joined Sheffield Wednesday in a long-term loan deal last October as manager Paul Jewell sought to boost a flagging attack. His bustle and pace proved effective and he earned a place in the hearts of the Owls' fans by scoring both goals in the Worthington Cup victory over Sheffield United in November. He produced a series of steady performances and scored a number of goals as the club's fortunes improved in the second half of the season.
