A surprise call into the squad he is a young defender of great promise. He has only played three senior matches for his club side for Shanghai Shenhua making his full international debut before his first performance for his club. He was signed by Shanghai 02 in 1995 and signed for the senior side this season. He was part of the China youth side that played in Argentina in 1991and does not look out of place in the full side. He is good on the air with good distributional skills but has been criticized by his club manager for holding off of attackers and being exposed by attackers with real pace. He is unlikely to play here but is seen as one for the future.
