Tall, powerful, with good feet and a terrific shot, Dion scored for fun at Cambridge United and this alerted Manchester United who bought him for £1million.

Dion's career at Manchester was disappointing as he unfortunately broke his leg early on, yet the goals he scored in his limited appearances were crucial in winning the first two Premiership titles.

He then transferred to Coventry City where he quickly became a hero and prolific scorer.

He broke the most goals in a season record by Cyrille Regis by scoring over 20 goals.

He soon became an England international, playing under Glenn Hoddle in a friendly against Chile in 1998.

He missed out on World Cup '98 and was transferred to Aston Villa in November 1998, quickly became a Holt End hero by scoring twice against Tottenham Hotspur on his debut.

He proved his worth as a target man for Villa.

He broke his neck against Sheffield Wednesday in 1999, but bounced back and played in a FA Cup Semi Final against Bolton Wanderers scoring a penalty in the shoot out to win the game.

Dion's contract at Leicester City was extended to June 2006 in June 2005.

Dion joined Celtic in January 2006 with a contract to the end of the season.

He joined Norwich City in September 2006 with a contract to the end of the season that was extended to June 2008 in May 2007.
