This talented midfield player signed for Montpellier as a 15-year old but never establish himself in the first team and in the summer of 1999 he joined Raith Rovers.
He did well at Kirkcaldy and 12 months later he moved on to Hibernian.
He was only on a short-term contract at Easter Road and, after some exceptional performances at the start of the 2000-01 campaign, he controversially signed for Celtic in September 2000.
A pacy winger who is very composed on the ball, he soon established himself as a firm favourite at Parkhead and was an important figure in Martin O'Neill's treble-winning team in his first season.
He teamed up with Martin O'Neill again at Aston Villa in September 2006 on a short-term contract.
