Des Lyttle

An accomplished right back, Des was a vital figure down the flank for West Bromwich Albion throughout the 2000-01 season.

As always he gave 100 per cent every time he took the field and was often to be found in an attacking position deep in the opposition half, occasionally acting as an orthodox winger.

He swept some tempting crosses forward and was never found wanting, always quick in recovery, defending with great resilience and clearing his lines with confidence.

He scored his first goal for Albion in the 3-1 home defeat by champions-elect Fulham in early December, but came close on a number of occasions to adding to his tally.

Des originally joined Northampton Town in November 2003 on non-contract terms before agreeing a deal in February 2004 to the end of the season.
