Wigan Athletic's second-choice keeper once again proved to be a capable deputy for Roy Carroll in 2000-01.
He had a three-month run in the team at the turn of the year when Carroll broke a toe and produced some impressive performances.
A fine shot stopper with a long kick, Derek went on Wigan's transfer list in August 2001.
He joined Gillingham in July 2007 with a one-year contract.
