As a young frontman with huge potential, Derek Asamoah impressed at Hampton & Richmond and Slough Town before securing his move to Northampton Town.
He joined Mansfield Town in July 2004 with a two-year contract but was made available for transfer in February 2005.
He joined Lincoln City with a contract to June 2006.
Derek joined Shrewsbury Town in August 2006 in a one-year deal.
He became the first Shrewsbury player to win a full internatuional cap for 18 years when he came on as a substitute for Ghana against South Korea in October 2006.
The last Shrew to make an international outing was Bernard McNally for Northern Ireland against Malta in 1988.
Derek joined Carlisle United in October 2014 on a short-term contract that was soon extended to February 2015, to December 2015 in June 2015 and to June 2016 in January 2016.
He re-joined the Cumbrians in October 2016 with a two-month contract.
