West was Burnley's 'forgotten man' for much of 2000-01 but he finally broke into the first team eight matches from the end of the season.
His performance was a key feature of the Clarets' biggest win of the campaign against Preston North End - solid in defence, dangerous going forward and playing a major part in the opening goal.
A stocky and competitive right back, he at least provided a timely reminder that he was still in contention for a first-team place.
West returned to Lincoln City in July 2004 but moved on to Boston United two months later with a contract to the end of the season.
