Welsh international Dean Saunders won the FA Cup with Liverpool in 1992 after joining for a then record £2.9 million from Derby County.

Wales international with over 70 caps to his credit. Dean made three appearances for Bradford City in the pre-season Inter Toto Cup matches but was then out of action for two months with a series of injuries including hamstring trouble and a knee cartilage problem. On his return to fitness he made a handful of Premiership appearances but it became clear that he was not a part of new boss Jim Jeffries' plans. On the international front he established a new record of caps for an outfield player for Wales when he made his 74th appearance in the World Cup qualifier against Armenia. Dean was due to be out of contract at Valley Parade in the summer and at the time of writing it looked very likely that he would begin the 2001-02 campaign with a new club.
