Theobald began the 2000-01 campaign on the fringes of the Brentford first-team squad and it was not until February that he finally got a decent run in the side, replacing the injured Scott Marshall.
A tall and capable central defender, he impressed with some solid work at the back for the Bees and finished the season with a runners-up medal for the LDV Vans Trophy after appearing in the Final against Port Vale.
Theobald was released by Swansea City in January 2003 and joined Cambridge United on non-contract terms.
