Reeves is the twin of former Swindon Town defender, Alan Reeves.
He took a while to get going for Chesterfield in 2000-01 but, following a spell out injured, he returned fresh to the team and became the irrepressible imaginative forward of old.
He linked well with Luke Beckett and scored regularly, at one point briefly overtaking his strike partner as leading scorer.
Dave passed the milestone of 500 Football League appearances at Macclesfield Town in March 2001.
Reeves was put on the Oldham Athletic transfer list in October 2002 before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent a month later.
He returned to Chesterfield with a contract up to June 2004 but was made avaialble for transfer at his own request in January 2004.
