David Lucas

A product of the Preston North End youth system, David signed as a professional in December 1994.

He has represented England at youth, Under 18, 19 and 20 levels.

He had a loan spell at Darlington late in 1995 and made his Preston debut towards the end of the 1995-96 season at Hartlepool United in April and he kept a clean sheet.

He was in the reserves in the 1996-97 season and, after playing in a 4-4 draw in a Coca Cola Cup match against Wigan Athletic in September, he went back to Darlington on loan and then to Scunthorpe United to gain first team experience.

An injury early in the 1997-98 season saw David lose his place and he only made a handful of appearances in the rest of the season.

He got his chance to shine in the 1998-99 season when Tepi Moilanen was injured and he excelled staying as first choice.

He remained first choice in 1999-2000, but after being sent off against Wigan Athletic, he lost his place and remained second choice for the rest of the season.

He was second-choice 'keeper for Preston at the start of 2001-02, but gave a 'Man of the Match' performance in his first league start for a year at Queens Park Rangers and kept his place until a run of defeats in the New Year.

His 100th senior game came in the home draw with Fulham, and an up and down campaign saw him back as first choice when he replaced the injured Moilanen at Burnley.

David joined Sheffield Wednesday in May 2004 on a two-year contract.

He joined Barnsley in January 2007 with a monthly contract.

David's contract at Leeds United was extended to June 2008 in January 2008.

He joined Birmingham City in July 2012 with a one-year contract.
