Having joined Carlisle United shortly before the start of last season, David came off the bench in the opening match against Halifax to inspire the Cumbrians' recovery from a two-goal deficit to take a point. However although he featured regularly as a substitute he only started one Third Division match and left Brunton Park in November. He subsequently spent several weeks training with Halifax Town before joining Conference outfit Morecambe in January.
