With Newcastle United, 1st Division Champion 1993

David scored some vital goals as United avoided relegation to Division Three, then thrived as a Kevin Keegan-inspired Newcastle stormed to promotion the following year. He boasted a near goal-very-other-game record whilst on Tyneside.

Republic of Ireland full international with some 750 club appearances under his belt. Having joined Sheffield United on a 12-month contract in the close season David went on to be a regular in the starting line-up for much of last season, only dropping back to the subs' bench in February. Despite his advancing years he showed he could still take a half-chance and his goal at Blackburn when he charged down a kick from the visiting 'keeper typified his attitude. A hard-working striker who never seemed to stop chasing he was joint second-top scorer for the Blades. He was offered a coaching job at Sheffield United but opted to join Motherwell for the 2001-02 season. David moved on to Mansfield Town in January 2002 on a three month contract.
